values
We charge for our work because we (unfortunately) live and work under capitalism. We offer sliding scales to acknowledge that the inequality in our society enable different access to resources to people based on their race, region, ancestry, gender, formal education levels, values, along with many other identity factors. While race and class are not synonymous, and there are folks with very few and very many material resources in every racial group, the United States was built on an economy that egregiously exploited African descendant people, and stole land from and killed millions of indigenous people—those who cared for this land for thousands and thousands of years. We try to take into account historical and current power structures in both how we charge for this work, how we share money and work between us as white and Black women, and how we spend and redistribute the money we make.
If collaboration with us would only be possible at a price outside the sliding scale, please reach out so we can talk about what could be possible. We want to offer price points in order to value our work and yet we don’t want cost to prohibit collaboration.
